Pub Golf, a fun way to do a pub crawl, is a drinking game growing in popularity. Based on the principles of golf, it consists to create a “course” which is essentially the bars to visit, the drink to be taken in each of those bars and the par value. The scoring varies depending on how you are playing pub golf, but the most common practice is to define the par as the number of drinks/sips/gulps it should take to complete the drink assigned. There is also some penalties that can be assigned such as +1 stroke for spilling a drink, +1 stroke for going to a bathroom in a bar deemed a water hazard, +10 strokes for throwing up, etc.
All the details and rules regarding pub golf can be wound on Wikipedia. The Bar Golf USA is another site that has a lot of information and also organizes a yearly pub golf event in Boston.
Though it is not necessary to playing pub golf, it is highly recommended and often required, that all participants wear full golfing attire. Wearing argyle sweaters over bright colored polo shirts and tucked into plaid patterned pants is certainly acceptable attire for an outing of pub golf. Wearing of such attire makes it easier to keep track of those in the party, while adding to the fun, and all the while helping promote the game of Pub Golf.
